“Imagine the day when a fifty story mid-rise will change its glass “skin” façade as the day progresses, taking into account the landlord’s operational requirements, tenant customization, the temperature outdoors, and the amount of sunlight hitting each window – Welcome to the world of windows controlled by SCSC” – Jay Moskowitz, Founder

“We have assembled a management team and engineering staff with vast systems experience to create a full product line that will allow SPD-Smart windows and other products to be
controlled in the smallest residential installation to the largest commercial environments, and in automotive, aerospace, rail and marine vehicles as well. Whether it is a private residence, a small office building, or a skyscraper with thousands of windows, SCSC will offer standardized electronic control systems to maintain energy efficiency and occupant comfort through automated or manual tinting control." – Jay Moskowitz, Founder

"SCSC is a proud RFI licensee for SPD electronics.  Our mission is to be THE electronics' partners for our fellow Licensees."   - John Petraglia, CEO

Revelation – SPD Film/Glass Demo Unit

The demo unit, called Revelation, has been created so that you may put operational SPD material in the hands of the architects and other designers who are capable of integrating this material into their new designs. The demo unit consists of two pieces of SPD-Glass/Film (not included) and a control unit that operates manually, via photocell, via remote control IR devices, or automatically - running through a series of lighting programs to display switching speeds and lighting control levels.

·         Housed in a small box

·         Driven by battery

·         Power ON LED

·         Battery Low LED - the device will NOT drive the SPD glass

if power is below a fixed amount to insure the highest

        performance of the demo.

·         Button to set the mode:

Manual mode - a DARK/CLEAR button allows for a linear change to the opaqueness of the SPD glass.

Demo mode – up to 2 pieces of SPD glass cycle through a predefined set of demos with a slow ramp up, fast ramp up, blinking on and off, and a mix of other combinations. The beating of the settings on different pieces of material is an impressive display of the switching capabilities.

Photocell mode - to demo how the glass can change depending upon the light hitting the photocell

Remote mode - where you can use an IR remote controller to turn the glass to different tinting.

Custom mode - this is reserved for a special demo or feature as requested by a customer.

Standardizing SPD Electronic Components

All of us at SPD Control Systems Corporation are happy to join the group of Research Frontiers SPD licensees. We have created our company specifically to become your engineering team and your manufacturing company for electronic controllers and systems. We have brought together our best engineers from former organizations to design, build and support a line of electronic products that will allow SPD-Smart glass and plastic products to operate in a variety of products from residential homes to skyscrapers, as well as in automobiles, airplanes and marine vehicles. Our focus is SPD electronics and our goal is to continually maintain and expand our expertise in operating products based upon this state-of-the-art technology.

As SPD electronic engineering specialists, we will create and sell “standardized” controllers for this industry that are very flexible and full of special features for many of your SPD-Smart products. Our standard controllers will have wireless and wired networking capabilities that will enable them to be operated through our control system products in support of manual or automatic operating modes. Standardization across manufacturers is very important to any growing industry for worldwide acceptance of their products. These devices will also be small in size in order to be easily integrated into other products, and scalable for larger projects.

Moving Forward Together

We are forming close relationship with RFI Licensees to understand their requirements for the electronics to operate their SPD-Smart products.  We are doing this analysis so that we are certain that our standard controllers and systems incorporate the features that their customers need.  Because we are prepared to build electronic devices in far larger quantities than any individual licensees would manufacture by themselves, we will be able to offer you very sophisticated devices at very attractive pricing levels. But for this to happen we must work with the Licensees to ensure that our controllers easily integrate into their products.

Research Frontiers licensees are our only customers. Our company is dedicated to servicing RFI Licensees with our products and services.  We continue to contact the Licensees we have not talked to yet in the coming weeks to discuss requirements and the integration of our line of controllers into their products.  Please feel free to contact us at any time.

We recognize that we are all awaiting generation 2 film in order to go into full production mode. Regardless, now is the time for us to be talking. While our products are maturing and we are addressing as many common and special issues as we can in the basic design of our standardized microprocessor-driven controllers and master control systems. We know that you have already had many thoughts with regard to features and functions you will need as well as physical construction concerns you have when integrating electronics with your product.

Again, now is the time to share those concerns with us so that our engineers, who are focusing their entire energies into addressing the driving and control of SPD-film, take all of these concerns into account. No idea is too small or insignificant to discuss. There are so many product variations and you have heard a large number of them. It is important that we, as your engineering team, hear them also. This will only result in more sophisticated products that we will be able to deliver to you.
